Fall Out Boy Hoping to Record New Album This Summer ... MaybeFall Out Boy may be entering the studio to record the follow-up to last year's Infinity on High in a matter of months... or they may not, depending on who you ask. Members of the pop-punk group are talking about working on a new album, but they haven't pinned down when or where it will be recorded. ![]() "It was sort of a plan of ours to downplay the fact that we are recording a new record soon. Not that we don't care or don't want people to know, but I think we were a little swamped with the press surrounding Infinity on High," guitarist Joe Trohman told MTV News. "So we wanted to slightly scale that aspect back, make it somewhat more of a surprise so that people would all of a sudden get hit with our new record one of these days. "As far as when/where we are going to record, the 'when' will be sometime in the next couple of months, the 'where' will be in the Los Angeles/ Burbank [California] area, but we have not chosen an exact date to start preproduction and we have not chosen a studio," he continued. "We have talked about revisiting Ocean Studios in Burbank, where we did From Under the Cork Tree, but honestly, we haven't locked anything down. As far as a release date? No f---ing clue." Recording of the new album may have to take a backseat in light of recent events involving a certain individual named Ashlee. Also, with the wild success of the band's cover of Michael Jackson's "Beat It," FOB may be obliged to promote it more thoroughly. Bassist Pete Wentz has claimed that a video shoot is planned for next week."It's been an interesting back-and-forth," Wentz said. "Now we are back in limbo, especially with 'Beat It' kind of taking on a life of its own. There's a part of us that just wants to go to another country and lay something down and see how it goes, but right now we are just kind of on autopilot trying to figure out the next move." The band has been all over the map in terms of describing what the new material will sound like. A rumor persisted throughout last year that the music would have a "folk" influence, followed by a rumor started by Wentz that it would have an Oasis vibe. "It's so interesting how whatever comment you make about new music becomes the 'set-in-stone' description of your new music.... It's too early to tell what it will sound like, but my only guess would be a progression again," said Wentz. "Also, it's so early that we don't really have any names for the songs. They all have joke titles like 'MC Hammer and Ms. Piggy Bank.' " What do you want the new Fall Out Boy album to sound like?

(*Happy dance*)
I have been waiting forever to hear new FOB music, so this is probably the greatest news I have read all day...And no matter what the new music sounds like, I`ll bet it will rock! :-D
Thank you for giving us hope, Joe! You Rock!
I`m kinda wondering about the video, though: Do you think they are gonna break out their own version of the moonwalk? X-D
I dont want another panic album god for bid..
Something with alot of soullllll Lol
And yes i did scream my head off when i saw this :D
My answer: Like a Fall Out Boy record. Nothing more, nothing less.
more take this to your grave pleeeasee.
But the only thing I want the new album to sound like is JUST Fall Out Boy. Like nothing else, no influences. Pure FOB.
And the video is going to be sick. I can't wait. : D
I can't wait. But now that pete's enaged I think this album might take the back seat to that...for now at least. I wouldn't like them to rush things too much neither. I want harder sounding songs to...haha :)
If their new album would sound like their first one but with a small twist, well, that would be nice. Also, I'm hoping that the lyrics don't change in terms of what they're related to and such. It'd be a bummer if the band only wrote happy-happy joy-joy songs.
I support Fall Out Boy in whatever they do, and am going to try to trust them in their upcoming album. (Whenever.. that may be decided upon, that is.)
I don't care what the album sounds like.
As long as Patrick is still singing, I don't care.
(No songs dedicated to Ashlee, though. Please and thank you.)
most likely the natural progression of fall out boy's evolution. yep, sounds good. i'll let them surprise me. =]
but i dont care if it is fall out boy i will totally buy it
