Miley Cyrus 'Embarrassed' Over Racy Pics

Miley Cyrus is all apologies for the scandalous pics of her that have been floating around online recently and the ones that will be in the coming days, weeks and, likely, months.

Scandalous pictures of the girl otherwise known as Hannah Montana have been circulating online, and the series has cultminated in a batch of overly revealing photos to be featured in the next issue of Vanity Fair.

But on Sunday, Cryus backtracked and issued the following statement: "My goal in my music and my acting is always to make people happy. For Vanity Fair, I was so honored and thrilled to work with [photographer] Annie [Leibovitz]. I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be 'artistic' and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed."

The Vanity Fair ish hits stands May 6.

As for those other recently circulated pics, Cyrus said: "The pictures of me on the Internet were silly, inappropriate shots. I appreciate all the support of my fans, and hope they understand that along the way I am going to make mistakes and I am not perfect. I never intended for any of this to happen and I am truly sorry if I have disappointed anyone.

"Most of all, I have let myself down," she added. "I will learn from my mistakes and trust my support team. My family and my faith will guide me through my life's journey."

I decided to scope the Vanity Fair pics in question - namely the one of her in the sheet - and there really is nothing wrong with it! It's completely innocent. There really is nothing wrong with the article, either. Parents pitching a fit over this really need to pull their heads out of their ass. They're overreacting because they're secretly afraid that their kids may possibly be sexualized at an early age. Bullshit. There's entirely worse content out there, this is nothing. This is tame. This is art.

About ten years ago, Britney popped up on the cover of Rolling Stone in a photo much more scandalous and she was only a year older than Miley. It caused just as much of a stir. Did Britney apologize for it? No. Was she ashamed? No. Was she still considered a role model for younger girls after that? Yes.

First, you don't apologize for photos taken by Annie Lebiovitz. You should consider yourself blessed to work with her. Secondly, when a photo is artistic - and this one is - you have no reason to defend yourself. Vanity Fair was not taking advantage of a 15 year old. They could have and they didn't. They even made all the photos taken "behind the scenes" available for viewing. They could have done a lot worse. But they didn't. And this is Vanity Fair. A very credible (and sometimes controversial) magazine.

Throw a fit when she appears on the cover of barely legal magazines. Until then, get over it.

Thats what I thought, the fact that Annie Leibovitz is taking her picture for vanity fair shows that she has reached a new level of fame, one that you should be proud of and not one you should be apologetic about. If she comes out and says im proud to have worked with someone of her stature, its an honor and not something im ashamed of, she would have gained a lot of respect in my opinion. Instead she says the first part but not the second and doesnt stand by what she does.

What a shame.

Y'know, I was thinking about it earlier, and I wouldn't be surprised if Disney forced her into the apology. She is their latest cash cow, HSM aside, and at the end of the day they are a business. Profit is their main drive, just like with any other major corporation and/or studio. Were there to be a huge backlash against Miley, Disney would be losing out. They lose enough from something (as trivial) as this, and Miley would be out of a job. So really, they're just trying to save face and placate her fanbase as to not lose profits.

She's holding her titties.
She's 14 or something. Who cares anyways?
But she's still underage.
And Disney's all "ZOMG NONE OF OUR ACTORS DO THAT!!" Say that too Vanessa Anne Hudgens' saggy va-jay jay.

I just saw the photos on tv and I thought they were very creative and amazing photos, but not exactly the type of photo for a 15 year old girl.
britishangel: 04/28/2008 6:12 PM
does anyone have the pics?

she's turning to a bad role model, although not intentionally though
chetallica: 04/28/2008 8:28 PM
Bad decision. No 15 year old should be posing that way. I'm not saying that the pictures are necessarily skanky, but for a 15 year old girl it's a bit much.
Actually, its more than a bit much.

Also, I don't believe the apology for a second. If she really felt sorry for it, she wouldn't keep taking questionable pictures of herself.
Whether she is a role model or not, she shouldn't be doing it. No 15 year old girl should. Or boy for that matter.
