Scott Weiland Sentenced to Eight Days in Jail

Scott Weiland can't stop making headlines: From his upcoming solo album to his departure from Velvet Revolver to his reunion with Stone Temple Pilots, he's had a busy year. Well, Weiland's 2008 has just gotten a lot more miserable.

On Monday, Weiland was sentenced to 192 hours in an L.A. jail, according to TMZ. The punishment stems from his November arrest for driving under the influence, and he has until May 28 to serve it. TMZ reports that Weiland – who was not in court, instead letting his attorney enter a no-contest plea – has also been ordered to take part in a year-and-a-half-long alcohol program, will be put on probation and must pay almost $2,000 in fines.

Weiland reportedly failed sobriety tests in November and was subsequently charged with one misdemeanor count of driving under the influence of alcohol with a previous conviction.

I saw Velvet Revolver live two weeks before he was sacked, and he is amazingly talented, but he lets his ego get in the way. He needs to listen to his own lyrics.
