Miley Cyrus Backs Out of First Public Appearance Since Photo ScandalPop starlet Miley Cyrus is bailing from her first public appearance since suggestive pictures were published in the latest issue of Vanity Fair. Hannah Montana had planned to make a red-carpet appearance at Disney World in Orlando, Florida, on Friday, but according to The Associated Press, that ain't happening.
![]() Cyrus did sign autographs at the entertainment hub on Thursday, but her first planned public appearance since her latest scandal started was reportedly nixed. She had reportedly been due to appear at a media party, along with other Disney Channel stars, who were in town to film the "Disney Channel Games" charity competition. The controversy over the recent photos, which showed her bare shoulders and back, has caused concern among parents of her young female fans. The singer hasn't commented much on "Mileygate," save when she said on Sunday that she was "embarrassed." "My goal in my music and my acting is always to make people happy," she said. "For Vanity Fair, I was so honored and thrilled to work with [photographer] Annie [Leibovitz]. I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be 'artistic' and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed." Cyrus made her first public appearance since the scandal when she was spotted shopping at a Target store in Nashville on Thursday, according to UsMagazine.com. She reportedly said "Good, thank you," when asked how she was doing amid the controversy. According to People.com, Miley Cyrus was still scheduled to perform at the 2008 Disney Channel Games on Saturday, though her performance won't be televised until July, when her next, yet-untitled album is due. Cyrus' brother Trace didn't have much to say when asked for comment in a video on TMZ.com. "I don't know anything about it, really," he deferred. If what he's saying is true, Trace is probably one of the few people who don't know about "Mileygate." Nielsen BuzzMetrics, which measures blog traffic, reported a 150 percent spike in discussion about her album Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert between Sunday and Tuesday, according to Billboard. And Madonna even took the opportunity to weigh in on the issue on Wednesday, telling MTV News, "I just want to go on record and say everyone should just leave her alone. I never represented anything wholesome in America ... I only had one way to go," she laughed. "People are just bored. Leave the poor girl alone! She's going to grow up soon, she's going to probably show her knees next — watch out!" In related news, the singer has officially changed her name from Destiny Hope Cyrus to Miley Ray Cyrus. Shocker! Alex xxx
she changed her name a long time ago. atleast 4 months ago in an interview
she talked about how she changed her name.
and she's a 15 yr old
and i think she is getting into a slutty time.
i heard that disney called her up and told her to hang low on the slutty pics
from the vanity fair shoot and those privaite pics. i want to smack her so hard.
No she is not "really a slut", I'm fairly sure she does not make people pay to have sex with her, which would make her a slut, slut being a word to describe a prostitute.
Please do not missuse language like that, I find it highly offensive.
