After flying solo on his last album, 2006's
The Information, Beck has tapped a couple of familiar faces for his next effort, his publicist confirmed Wednesday. Look for
Danger Mouse and
Cat Power to surface on his yet-untitled album.
Danger Mouse will produce Beck's new slab, with Cat Power (a.k.a.
Chan Marshall) among those paying guest appearances. The release could drop as soon as within the next four to six weeks, and Beck's publicist said it will feature 10 tracks and run just over 30 minutes.
According to the publicist, Beck and Danger Mouse "met a few years ago" and planned to work together. They reunited at last in December to work on a few songs, but the project blossomed into a full album they recorded over the ensuing months.
Gnarls Barkley's Mouse and Beck seem like a match made in heaven – as a matter of fact, a recent
Slate article opined, "The Gnarls Barkley problem: They want to be
Sly Stone. They're more like Beck."
Beck's publicist also confirmed another date on his schedule: A September 20 show at the Hollywood Bowl.
Spoon and
MGMT are also on the bill for the show, which Beck will of course headline.
