Spiritualized Sending North American Fans Into Space With New TourFans of Spiritualized, you are now floating in space: Jason Pierce's band has announced a slate of North American tour dates following their much-talked-about Coachella set last month. The grandiose psych-ics will be back in the States on July 19, beginning their trek with a performance at Chicago's Pitchfork Music Festival. After that, they'll sweep through some other major cities – Nashville; Atlanta; Washington, D.C.; and Cleveland among them – before touching Canada for a couple of shows and bringing the jaunt to a close on September 27 in Austin, Texas.
Spiritualized are making another grand return of sorts with their new album, Songs in A&E, which hits stores May 27. The band's first album since 2003's Amazing Grace was preceded by an exclusive iTunes EP, iTunes: London, that dropped late last month; and the album's first single, "Soul on Fire." The single is full of the band's trademark noisy guitars and choir, and the iTunes: London tracks were culled from the recent iTunes Festival in England, and feature the lush string instrumentation and gospel choir that's become synonymous with the band. The band is also releasing deluxe book and double-vinyl versions of Songs in A&E in June. 7.20 - Chicago, IL @ Pitchfork Music Festival 7.21 - Indianapolis, IN @ The Vogue 7.22 - Nashville, TN @ City Hall 7.23 - Atlanta, GA @ Variety Playhouse 7.25 - Washington, DC @ 9:30 Club 8.1 - Cleveland, OH @ House of Blues 8.2 - Buffalo, NY @ Town Ballroom 8.3 - Montreal, QC @ Parc Jean Drapeau 9.6 - Toronto, ON @ Toronto Islands Park 9.17 - Los Angeles, CA @ Hollywood Bowl (with Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds) 9.27 - Austin, TX @ Austin City Limits
