Daniel Craig talks about new Bond movie

In an interview with ComingSoon.net, Daniel Craig discussed his thoughts on Casino Royale, director Marc Forster, his controversial remarks on adding more humor to the role, the writers strike, and the direction of the next  James Bond movie.

According to Craig, the script is not based on an Ian Fleming text like the other films.  Said Craig, "There's nothing left, as far as I know."  Instead, the next film will begin where Casino Royale left off.

On what convinced him to do Casino Royale in the first place:

"The script and the fact that it seemed to me that I would be able to sort of dedicate and get involved with and make something of. I've always been a Bond fan. I've always wanted the films to be good. When it came along and I read the script I thought there was genuinely an opportunity to make a good movie with one of the most classic icon figures in movies."

On Marc Forster, the director of Bond 22:

"If you look at Marc Forster's current body of work, that in itself makes me very excited. If you look at Monster's Ball, Finding Neverland and then Kite Runner, which is just stunning, it's such a diverse look at the world, I'd want us to have that. Marc is very solid. That for me is crucially important because this movie needs to jump on from Casino Royale and take it somewhere else. Marc is totally inspired and is really just keen to get started."

On injecting more humor into the role:

"I was lying."

'Spider-Man' the musical taps 'Across the Universe' duo

Cinematical is reporting that Across the Universe director Julie Taymore wants Jim Sturgess and Evan Rachel Wood -- the leads from Universe -- to play the musical counter parts of Peter Parker and Mary Jane

According to Taymore, "Jim's certainly interested, but his film career has taken off, so I have to nab him between movies. Same with Evan. They'd be my ideal pairing, though, if they're free."

Spider-Man the musical will be more circus-like and more like the original comic books than the movies were, according to Taymore.

What do you think?   Can Jim Sturgess and Evan Rachel Wood best Tobey McQuire and Kirsten Dunst?

Tron 2 is a real possibility

According to /Film, Jeff Bridges was recently asked about the possibilty of a second Tron movie.  Jeff said he was expecting to be pitched soon on a sequel to the 1982 sci-fi cult classic.

“Why not to do it?” Bridges asked. “The reasons to do it and the reason I did that one (The original Tron) was because it was so innovative and I understand that they’ve got a whole new batch of stuff like that, innovations that they want to use on this so that could be kind of fun.”

Tron
was revolutionary in its use of computer generated effects.  Says Bridges, "We were all so excited when that [Tron] came out.  The technology and everything and about two seconds later every commercial on the TV you could see all that stuff for free."

Please!  More Tron!

The Gibson robot guitar

Gibson has just given its self-tuning robot guitar a release date.  All I can say is: Finally, a guitar with robots in mind. (Yes, I play the guitar.)  The problem I have is that I can't tune my guitar because I don't recognize imperfect tones, so I have to have one of the kids down the street tune it for me.  This new robot guitar from Gibson will take care of this little problem.  (Sorry Jim, no more "look at my crazy robot friend Buzzbot" showings for your friends.)  This guitar tunes itself.  Kick-ass.  Here we go... "Smoke on the water..."

The Gibson robot guitar takes the stage December 12th.

Favorite movie adaptation

As many of you may know, Beowulf is an awfully tiresome read (even for robots -- yes, robots can read...  jeez.)  But it looks like a pretty kick-ass movie.  So in honor of Buzznet's Week of Beowulf (imagine saying it like he does in the trailer.  It's Week! Of! Beowulf!), we want to know: What are your favorite movie adaptations from a book (I know, Beowulf is technically a really long poem, but so what -- I'm sure someone will make the case for a comic book adaptation, right?) Is it Lord of the Rings, Jurassic Park, The Shining, Into the Wild, Battlefield Earth?  Make the case for your favorite below.

Jolie shy about Beowulf

Angelina Jolie says she felt unnaturally exposed in the filming of Beowulf, which opens next Friday.  Jolie, who plays a lizard in the film, bares all with only some digital effects between her and the audience.  Jolie admits,

I was really surprised that I felt exposed. There are certain moments where I actually felt shy - and called home, just to explain that the fun movie I had done that was a digital animation was, in fact, a little different than we expected. I didn’t expect ourselves to come out as much. I didn’t expect it to feel as real, so it was kind of funny at first.

She also said she won't allow her kids to watch the film. "I think it's too much.  I don't think they should see their mom that way.  I don't wear nightgowns like that in the house.  I've got boys in my house.  You don't do that as a mom."

Beowulf opens November 16th.  Stay tuned for interviews with the cast coming in our Week of Beowulf.  Also, check out the trailer and production photos from the film.
